Fun and Bright Letterpress Invitations

I LOVE letterpress, and if you don't know what letterpress is, let me explain. It is basically the best thing EVER to happen to paper. If you're a technical person, you can read about letterpress as it is defined by Wikipedia. In layman's terms, it's when the design and ink is pressed into thick, luxurious paper, creating a beautiful piece of paper artwork.

Letterpress is usually reserved for very elegant invitations. Now I'm seeing more letterpress invitations using brighter colors and more design. They're all, of course, still incredibly elegant, but a pop of color always adds a bit of fun to anything!

These invitations by Louella Press have it all- gorgeous letterpress, colors that pop, a great design, and super fun wording!

It would brighten anyone's day to receive beautiful and bright invitations like these in the mail! I know I would be replying with the "Wouldn't Miss It" and "Aces" selections!

Has anyone ever received a letterpress invitation or card? OR is anyone considering letterpress invitations for their wedding?

Vintage Lace Invitations

Somehow this week turned into a Vintage Wedding week. I hope everyone's enjoying it!

Tifany of Gourmet Invitations posted this vintage wedding invitation suite at the perfect time! I literally gasped when I saw these on her blog. I have a special place in my heart for lace, so naturally I love these vintage lace invitations. Combined with these vibrant and beautiful colors, they're vintage with a modern twist.

The colors on these invitations add a bit of "2009" to the vintage design elements. I would love to see what this wedding ends up looking like!

How are you liking the Vintage theme this week? Are there any other themes that you would like to see featured?

The Love of Custom Invitations

Okay, I confess. I LOVE custom invitations. They are what led me to stumble upon the wedding blogosphere. Therefore, I am forever in debt to, and in love with, custom invitations.

Your wedding invitation is going to be the very first glimpse of your wedding that your guests will have. You want your invitations to reflect what your wedding will be like, as well as your personality. Custom invitations are perfect for achieving this.

Just a little background information about custom invites:
  • You have the ability to match the theme and feel of your wedding
  • You can make them yourself (if creatively and graphically inclined)
  • You can work closely with the designer, in lieu of choosing from a collection
  • You can choose from a collection and have the wording and colors customized
Depending on the designer or company, the design process is done in different ways. But altogether, the possibilities are endless with custom invitations!

Here are some gorgeous invitations that I've come across as of late.

* Nothing But Bonfires

Custom invitations are a great way to give your guests a preview to your wedding! It will be guaranteed that they've never seen an invitation like yours before!

Gorgeous Letterpress Invitations!

I'm a sucker for letterpress, and when I saw these invitations by Spark Stationary, I just had to share them! This is everything that I would have wanted in my invitation, and more!

I just love the pocket folder, and the letterpress design on it is absolutely amazing. The colors go together so well (I'm sensing an inspiration board in the future), and they make the whole suite just POP! And finally, the tie that holds everything together is something I would have never paired with a wedding invitation. Modern, functional, innovative and elegant. I love it.

According to Spark, a whole line of letterpress wedding invitations will be launched in 2010. I don't know if I would be able to wait that long. Someone please get these invitations...and then send me one- just to see it!

It All Started With the Invitations

While trying to decide on invitations, I was frantically Googling for ideas. I had already looked through the big invitation binders (approximately 6 of them, thanks to my wedding planner), but I felt like there was more out there. So, with an ordering deadline approaching, I began my search. After hours of searching for local stationary stores, I came up empty handed. Then, I clicked on a link for Emily Ley Paper, a local stationary designer. I instantly fell in love with the idea of having a PERSON design my invitations instead of a corporate owned machine.

Now that this new concept was in my head, the deadline for ordering was looming, and I was ignoring it. I continued my search, but expanded into the newly discovered world of wedding blogs. I spent hours on SMP, drooling over the color palettes, flowers, venues, and custom invitations. I was hooked.
Devastatingly, I researched and drooled for too long, and didn't have enough time to have my invitations custom made. Although my invitations were beautiful, I still find myself lusting over custom designed invitations. The possibilities are truly endless! There are so many designers out there, and thanks to the blogging community, their styles are showcased wonderfully. If there was one thing that I would change about my wedding, I would've started looking at wedding blogs way earlier than 5 months before my wedding, and then I would've definitely been able to have my dream custom invitations!

Some examples of what I drool over...
